Brussels, Belgium – PlanIT Group has been awarded a subcontract to support the Campus LAN/WLAN installation for NATO NCIA’s training campus in Oeiras, Portugal. Work will include, installing patch cabling, both fiber and copper, and the placement of wireless access points and wired Campus LAN installation.
Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa, NCI Agency General Manager Koen Gijsbers and top Portuguese officials marked the start of construction of a prestigious NATO training facility in Oeiras, Portugal. The NCI Academy will provide expert training to civilian and military staff from NATO and its member countries on the Alliance’s advanced IT and cyber systems, both software and hardware. Operators trained in the Academy will go on to man NATO’s IT and communications systems, as well as its air, ballistic and cyber defenses.
PlanIT Group is a subcontractor on the ITM contract with a potential value of about $85.5 million within the base year or first phase of the contract to modernize NATO’s IT infrastructure. “This contract will fundamentally reshape NATO’s nervous system and allow us to reduce costs,” stated NCI Agency General Manager, in a statement Thursday. “In light of its importance to the Alliance’s cyber posture, it is paramount that the work is executed on time, in scope and in budget.”
