Key Duties and Responsibilities:
. Equipment Maintenance & Inspection: Regularly inspect, clean, and
repair specialized SAR equipment, including ropes, harnesses, radios,
personal protective equipment (PPE), and medical kits to meet safety
standards.
. Vehicle & Specialized Equipment Upkeep: Perform preventative
maintenance on vehicles, trailers, ATVs, boats, or snowmobiles, such as
checking fluids, tire pressure, and ensuring emergency lighting is
functional.
. Inventory Management: Track and order necessary supplies, parts, and
safety gear, ensuring replacements are on hand to prevent downtime.
. Safety Compliance: Ensure all gear and facilities comply with safety
regulations, such as checking fire alarms, emergency exits, and proper
hazardous material storage.
. Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of maintenance
activities, repairs, and safety checks on all equipment and vehicles.
. Emergency Response Support: Ensure all critical equipment is loaded
or ready for deployment immediately upon request.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using tools for basic electrical,
plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
. Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy rescue gear (often over 50
lbs), climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.
. Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly diagnose issues with equipment
and perform repairs under pressure.
. Certification: A high school diploma or equivalent is typical, with
specialized training in mechanics or technical maintenance preferred.
